Karen Foster
Mud Magic Pottery

Hello! My name is Karen Foster. I love to garden, I love to cook, and I love to use a potter’s wheel to make utilitarian items, (mostly) for my kitchen, close friends, and people who might appreciate a little artistic creativity. Sometimes these items are not at all practical, but rather fun and unusual sculpture.

When I was a child, I wanted to make mud pies in the sandbox, or with plain old mud in the yard. Today, my mud pies become a piece of magic, i.e., MudMagic.

Pick up a piece. Does it need a cup of hot, special coffee in it? Does it need to be surrounded by close friends, a lovely garden, or an outdoor picnic? Do you want to have a plate that has colorful thoughts in the colors? Can I make any magic for your kitchen?

I have loved clay work since 1968 when I took my first class. Since that time, I have always dreamed about “being a potter”. I have taken classes during the 1980’s and 90's at Richland College. Since 2005, I have been taking classes at Eastfield College. I have participated in many student shows and sales, and some private sales. I have always wanted to participate in a show/sale at the Dallas Arboretum because it combines mud in gardens, and mud in pottery/art. I am so glad to be here!
